“It’s not goodbye it’s just until next time.”

This is what my dear friend Elise and I told our kids, who are the best of friends, as we rounded them up after our very last play date before we moved from Indianapolis to Charleston. The littlest two, the two boys, didn't seem to quite grasp the fact that they wouldn’t get to play together on the regular any more, but the two girls, Jane and Elle, understood what our move meant and you could tell their sweet hearts were heavy with it.

Parting is such sweet sorrow, as the saying goes, and we’re so much better for having known these dear friends of ours. I wanted to capture the sweetness of these little bonds, these big friendships between tiny humans that are such a special part of our lives. Play dates, it just so happens, make the perfect occasion for a fun photo shoot, whether it’s the very first one, or that last one … for a little while … until next time.
