Citadel Senior Portraits :: Charleston, SC

I had the distinct privilege of photographing this young man, Winnie was his name, just days before his graduation from The Citadel. He could not have been more respectful, kind and open to getting these images, mostly to make his Mom happy. As a mother myself, that of course just totally won me over, and I had such a nice time with him as we casually meandered around the sleepy Citadel campus, on a slow Tuesday morning. Most students has left for the summer, save for the remaining seniors who I’m sure were itching to wrap things up and get gone.

Senior portraits, be they high school or collegiate in nature, are my favorite types of shoots to do, and I think it has to do with the fact that there is so much in store for these young people - they’re standing on the edge of their “real lives” - and it’s really something to get to be around that for a little while. It reminds you of your own before’s and after’s, and it’s impossible to not get nostalgic and sentimental. At least for me this is always true.

It’s my total honor to get to capture this exciting and utterly pivotal time in someone’s life.
