I had the honor of wandering around the gorgeous grounds of Charlestowne Landing with the beautiful Erin Diehl (CEO and founder of Improve It) recently, for my most recent Hungry Ghost session. We captured some images to help support and market her (amazing and inspirational) podcast, Failed it! And we had such a great time doing it.
Erin was nervous and confessed that photo shoots always stress her out. She remarked on the irony of that truth, though, saying that as a comedian who wears wigs and speaks in hilarious accents to make clients laugh, it’s funny that she actually gets the jitters when it comes to a simple portrait session. But I don’t know Erin as a client - I only really know her as a friend (I’m very fortunate to be one), and I know and have felt the natural light she gives off wherever she goes. Getting to capture that and show it off in a photo session was a true joy. Framing her natural, effortless glow and capturing her just as she is without the buffer of props or wigs felt far more like a privilege than work.
That said, I highly recommend you check out her podcast, which is all about celebrating our failures and finding ways to leverage them to our advantage - learning from mistakes, lemonade from lemons, failing UP!
