Last weekend’s session out on Folly Beach was one for the books. The light was magical. The seashells were plentiful. And there was a whole lot of love to go around during my time with the Diehl’s. I’m so happy that Erin reached out to me, hoping we could capture some images of her sweet family down on the beach. I’m happy to say that, not only did we get a bunch of absolutely dreamy photos from our time together, but I left the session knowing that I’d made a friend.
That is, without question, the best part of my job. I get to tell stories and lean into my creative love for this craft and explore beautiful places, yes. But that all pales in comparison to how incredible it is to connect with the families - the individuals on the other side of my lens. I show up, usually, as a total stranger to them, and then they offer up this incredible trust to me, to help capture their lives and their stories. There’s a very special sort of intimacy to that. It’s not lost on me, and I value it immensely.
And so. We frolicked around in the sand, sorted through heaps of sun-bleached sea shells, and let loose for just a little while. That’s exactly how I like it.
